Welcome to Beekeeping 2012
Discussions of good magazines, catalogs and review some beekeeping  jargon. Propose changes to the Bylaws and explore the funds and funding for this year’s scholarship.  Start setting committees for events we would like to do in the summer. i.e. Fair and maybe summer sizzle.

The Colony
Names of hive components and parts. Show various tools and explain various methods used in handling colonies. Talk about step that should be taken for the spring management of your bees and place club order for supplies you feel you will need for the year.  (Please try to have your list of stuff the day of the meeting if possible.)

Workshop
Show how to assemble frames and hive body part with discussions and examples of how to get your colonies cleaned up and ready for the year ahead. i.e. rotating you brood chambers, cleaning out dead bees, and checking field worthiness of equipment. Bring your bees for sampling under the microscope.  Discussions on how to prevent swarming this time of year. *PLEASE bring clothes you do not mind getting dirty and your protective bee equipment.

Fair Meeting
We will be bagging candy and setting up our booth space for the fair. If you would like to sell some of your bee goods at the fair please bring them to the meeting along with your pricing.  The club asks for 10% consignment on items you sell as to raise funds for the club. * Microscope will be available for use, if you want bring your bees.

Springtime Beekeeping
The importance of feeding your bees  this time of year and different methods of feeding them. Evaluate your existing hive for health and productivity. Is it time to re-queen or make splits from it? Discussions on how to handle the swarms and swarm calls.  * Microscope will be available for use, if you want bring your bees.

Field Day
Show the inner workings of a hive. Things you should be looking for. How to spot the queen and what she looks like. Report on monies made from the fair as well as questions that were asked of different members manning the booth. Autumn management of the bees. Checking mite loads.
